Jaggery is a traditional non-centrifugal cane sugar consumed in Asia. It is a concentrated product of cane juice and often date or palm sap without separation of the molasses and crystals, and can vary from golden brown to dark brown in colour, and is similar to the Latin American panela.
Best quality and taste – Jaggery is brown, pure and unrefined cane sugar, well-known in India under its common name Goor.
Jaggery – or Goor – is often used for sweets or as a sweetener for the classic Chai. Its natural, aromatic flavor gives sweets and especially spice teas a particularly tasty note.
